Idacio Ballejos started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, La Cosa Nostra's Elias Millrick sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sylwester Wawro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Millrick in the 4th minute of play forced Kwyjibo's goalkeeper Sylwester Wawro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of La Cosa Nostra booed when Kwyjibo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fortunato Barrientos didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Millrick in the 6th minute of play forced Kwyjibo's goalkeeper Sylwester Wawro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sylwester Wawro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Millrick in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Christian Burgo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The throw-in from Ahmet Boran Tekinalp in the 29th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Kwyjibo's Bahadırhan Yiğithan. Kwyjibo were furious when Obar Mudaffar was red carded, 34 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Kwyjibo! Sylwester Wawro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans Bergfelt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sylwester Wawro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias Millrick, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 52 played minutes La Cosa Nostra got a freekick which was hit by Jerónimo Avelar. Sylwester Wawro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Millrick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elias Millrick in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sylwester Wawro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th minute La Cosa Nostra were awarded a corner. Hans Bergfelt went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 59th minute Hans Bergfelt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sylwester Wawro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 60 played minutes La Cosa Nostra got a freekick which was hit by Elias Millrick. Sylwester Wawro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Millrick in the 63rd minute of play. Håkan Šuker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Sylwester Wawro made a huge save. Sylwester Wawro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias Millrick in the 67th minute of the match. Idacio Ballejos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Håkan Šuker in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sylwester Wawro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 82 minutes into the game, La Cosa Nostra's Hans Bergfelt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sylwester Wawro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hans Bergfelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Sylwester Wawro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Kwyjibo defense, Håkan Šuker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sylwester Wawro. The Kwyjibo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sylwester Wawro should have stopped the shot.
