Andréas Linquist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-3. 91 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mihály Horváth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jâninho Melo made a great header on Grêmio FBPA's corner, it was just that Borussia Dortmund's Mihály Horváth managed to reach the ball for a save.

Grêmio FBPA's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
