Denis Paulin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herminio Lucero in the 12th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lionel-Andrés Messi got free with Fausto Txaran in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Lionel-Andrés Messi took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Fausto Txaran to make any attempt to save it. With a little luck, The Falkland Islands's Fausto Txaran got control of the ball when Uriel Ferrer tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 34th minute, Godfredo Gau made a precise shot to the right of Fausto Txaran. The Falkland Islands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. After 37 minutes of play, Defensores de Lombroso's Lionel-Andrés Messi made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fausto Txaran was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Lionel-Andrés Messi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With an all-out effort, The Falkland Islands's Denis Paulin threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jacinto Astigar, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Defensores de Lombroso walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
