The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Germano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kevin Keegan's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. Club Atlético Atlanta's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eustaquio Jaizki in the 8th minute. The corner led Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki to fire away a dangerous shot which Tomás Ravelli despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 10th minute, Kevin Keegan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Skövde AIK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 17th minute, Paulino Tonio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tomás Ravelli. The goal made the score 2-1. Lázaro Cuartio hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Skövde AIK's Tomás Ravelli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Skövde AIK from getting a goal against them. After 27 minutes Skövde AIK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eustaquio Jaizki who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Eustaquio Jaizki almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Skövde AIK's Tomás Ravelli did a great save. Tomás Ravelli made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Santos Oskitz sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Eustaquio Jaizki came free, but Tomás Ravelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tomás Ravelli in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Paulino Tonio kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Ferdinand didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 48 minutes, Kevin Keegan made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Santos Oskitz made a kick off. Tomás Ravelli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Tonio in the 53rd minute of play. With a little luck, Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano got control of the ball when Jerry Williams tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58th minute, Ciro Ferdinand hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerry Williams didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Germano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 68th minute of play. Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 69th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kevin Keegan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Germano was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice moves Jerry Williams could shoot a difficult shot in the 76th minute, which Carlos Germano however easily saved by the left post. In the 87th minute, Skövde AIK's Kurt Hamrin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. With a little luck, Club Atlético Atlanta's Carlos Germano got control of the ball when Jerry Williams tried to sneak it across the goal line. Santos Oskitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Tomás Ravelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomás Ravelli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Jaizki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Skövde AIK's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
