The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by 詹俊 á Bø in the 4th minute of play forced U21 Argentina's goalkeeper Nemesio Baladi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tadeu Zonta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nemesio Baladi having to interfere. Vykan Víkingsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolo Clementi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vykan Víkingsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolo Clementi in the 18th minute of the match. When Sandro Trigo fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wellington Phoenix's protests and gave Sandro Trigo a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bartolo Clementi in the 24th minute of play forced Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Vykan Víkingsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wellington Phoenix's Vykan Víkingsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saturnino Honrio in the 29th minute of play. A throw-in in the 30th minute of the game was made by Sandro Trigo with Luis Mikolas as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. When Wellington Phoenix's 詹俊 á Bø, in the 38th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Wellington Phoenix. Nemesio Baladi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 詹俊 á Bø, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute Saturnino Honrio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vykan Víkingsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 played minutes U21 Argentina got a freekick which was hit by Habakkuk Velázquez. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

54 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Vykan Víkingsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Severiano Urbez. King Sputore kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, U21 Argentina's Vykan Víkingsson threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Hugo Casomiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wellington Phoenix's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Saturnino Honrio scored to the left of an out of position Vykan Víkingsson, making the score, 0-2. A collision led to Wellington Phoenix getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Remo Carvalho hit a great ball. King Sputore kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Vykan Víkingsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Casomiro in the 94th minute of play. The Wellington Phoenix fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. U21 Argentina were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
