The audience thought a goal was coming when Denis Bonadona got free with Teet Rosin in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With his leg Teet Rosin managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 21st minute Matias Jon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Bilintx to make the kick off. NeW York CitY CopS's Teet Rosin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Rufo in the 52nd minute of play. In the 56th minute Alejandro Rufo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teet Rosin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting de Gijón's Venancio Emesto was substituted for Denis Bonadona. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when NeW York CitY CopS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Urdin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The NeW York CitY CopS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Teet Rosin should have stopped the shot. A collision led to NeW York CitY CopS getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Rolando Quin hit a great ball. Saturnino Curcio took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Teet Rosin. NeW York CitY CopS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Matias Bilintx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Teet Rosin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Eduardo Barrionuevo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Óscar Cordoba, 3-2. After 97 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Saturnino Curcio.
