Thomás Toscano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Inácio Freitas, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. In the 10th match minute, Capibaribe Stars was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lothar Matthäus to maneuver through the defense. Inácio Freitas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Thomás Toscano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Lothar Matthäus hit a great ball. In the 15th minute Inácio Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomás Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. MarquinhosEC's Zézinho Simões proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save MarquinhosEC from getting a goal against them. In the 27th minute, Inácio Freitas made a precise shot to the right of Thomás Toscano. Capibaribe Stars's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 35 minutes of play, Capibaribe Stars's Robinho Urbano made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zézinho Simões was left in no man's land by his defense there! Inácio Freitas struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Zézinho Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robinho Urbano in the 46th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Robinho Urbano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Henry Costa took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zézinho Simões. Zézinho Simões dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 55th minute, Henry Costa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Capibaribe Stars fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Zézinho Simões came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Capibaribe Stars's Henry Costa. But to his dismay, Henry Costa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. MarquinhosEC's Esteve Quinto was substituted for Mark Kovalev. In the 69th minute, Hicham Al Azka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zézinho Simões was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. Capibaribe Stars's Thomás Toscano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Capibaribe Stars from getting a goal against them.
