In the 46th match minute, Granville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Ioritz to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Andrea Cellucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillaume Laurent Benmabrouk, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Chi-Chi Branca might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hamid Morceli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chi-Chi Branca ran back to his position shaking his head. 63 minutes into the match, THE OLD BOYS's goal looked a bit too open when Chi-Chi Branca came free, but Hamid Morceli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chi-Chi Branca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hamid Morceli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Granville's Andrea Cellucci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Houari Rimitti in the 65th minute of play. After some careless play in the THE OLD BOYS defense, Chi-Chi Branca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hamid Morceli. The THE OLD BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hamid Morceli should have stopped the shot. THE OLD BOYS's Hamid Morceli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chi-Chi Branca in the 78th minute of play. Artemio Banegas hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Andrea Cellucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rabah Timsit, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute Chi-Chi Branca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hamid Morceli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hamid Morceli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chi-Chi Branca in the 91st minute of the match. 94 minutes into the match, THE OLD BOYS's goal looked a bit too open when Chi-Chi Branca came free, but Hamid Morceli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rene Barea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
