An unexpectedly hard shot by Saturnino Curcio in the 18th minute of play forced Kings's goalkeeper Haşim Batüralp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kings's Raido Pulver got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raido Pulver in the 37th minute of play. Dante Fernendo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. 77 minutes into the match, Kings's Raido Pulver sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Fernendo narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
