In the 8th minute, Alvaro Muno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Connor Osmond stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raimundo Tupper's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Puttemans came free, but Ilkka Markkula reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvaro Muno hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Steven Puttemans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Connor Osmond showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raimundo Tupper, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After having played for 38 minutes, Raimundo Tupper managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raimundo Tupper was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goalkeeper Ilkka Markkula had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leif Olofsson. A collision led to Club Deportes Santa Cruz getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Shi Yuan hit a great ball. Marcus Edström scored 0-1 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Connor Osmond, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raimundo Tupper stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Shi Yuan got a free kick in the 51st minute. When the match was over Club Deportes Santa Cruz could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than SK Mons throughout the match.
