The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dénes Dibusz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Forbes, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After having played for 5 minutes, József Kiss managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szentlőrinc SE's supporters crossed their fingers, but József Kiss was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 9th minute of the match, Sidney Forbes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dénes Dibusz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 11th minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dénes Dibusz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Farid Mondragón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Kiss in the 16th minute of the match. József Kiss blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Farid Mondragón having to make a save. C. A. Independiente's Tomas Gustafson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Balázs Sinka in the 21 minute of the game. Kerry Sellers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dénes Dibusz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Sellers in the 28th minute of the match. Farid Mondragón showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Kiss in the 29th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, Szentlőrinc SE's goal looked a bit too open when Kerry Sellers came free, but Dénes Dibusz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kerry Sellerss short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Dénes Dibusz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. József Kiss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A well-hit corner resulted in János Dénes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when József Kiss stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dénes Dibusz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sid Chadwick in the 56th minute of the match. In the 58th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Gustafson to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Szentlőrinc SE's András Borsó tried to score from far away in the 58th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from János Dénes in the 60th minute of play. When C. A. Independiente's Tommie Bolton in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Szentlőrinc SE's goalie prevented a goal. In the 62nd minute Tommie Bolton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dénes Dibusz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Kerry Sellers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dénes Dibusz was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Farid Mondragón was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but János Dénes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 70 minute of play. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Garth Gould replaced Alfredo Felder. In the 77th minute of the match Tommie Bolton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dénes Dibusz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Chadwick in the 81st minute of play forced Szentlőrinc SE's goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dénes Dibusz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Chadwick in the 86th minute of play. When János Dénes came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Szentlőrinc SE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that János Dénes couldn't finish the play. Erberk Müftüoğlu hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Szentlőrinc SE's Zsigmond Ambrus got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by János Dénes in the 92nd minute of play. C. A. Independiente were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
