Granville's Andrea Cellucci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 17th minute of play. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chi-Chi Branca in the 24th minute of play. Andrea Cellucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kerry Sellers, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute Kerry Sellers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrea Cellucci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andrea Cellucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kerry Sellers, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 29th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Qiu Fan Ran to maneuver through the defense. Farid Mondragón came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Granville's Chi-Chi Branca. But to his dismay, Chi-Chi Branca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Chi-Chi Branca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Farid Mondragón read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. C. A. Independiente's Tommie Bolton was substituted for Sidney Forbes. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chi-Chi Branca was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Chi-Chi Branca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Granville fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 58th minute of play forced Granville's goalkeeper Andrea Cellucci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kerry Sellers got free with Andrea Cellucci in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 75 minutes, Desiderio Ugutz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Granville and the C. A. Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card.
