The ball had pretty good speed, but Farid Mondragón firmly grabbed it by the left post. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from János Dénes in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Forbes in the 10th minute of play forced Szentlőrinc SE's goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Szentlőrinc SE's Öztürk Ongen got a free kick in the 10th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidney Forbes in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dénes Dibusz saved Szentlőrinc SE from getting behind. In the 17th minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dénes Dibusz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Szentlőrinc SE booed when C. A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Marangoni didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Szentlőrinc SE's András Borsó tried to score from far away in the 22nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Farid Mondragón made an important save on a dangerous shot by József Kiss in the 25th minute. After having played for 29 minutes, Sidney Forbes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Forbes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by János Dénes. In the 32nd minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dénes Dibusz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Marangoni kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. 37 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by József Kiss. Sidney Forbes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dénes Dibusz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Szentlőrinc SE's Dénes Dibusz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidney Forbes in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Erberk Müftüoğlu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Tommie Bolton replaced Sidney Forbes. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Erberk Müftüoğlu hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. József Kiss was the one to do the kick off. Tommie Bolton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Dénes Dibusz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dénes Dibusz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommie Bolton in the 55th minute of the match. Ottó Vadász made in the 59th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by János Dénes. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, József Kiss stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Farid Mondragón came out of the goal and József Kiss tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommie Bolton in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dénes Dibusz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Szentlőrinc SE's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tommie Bolton was slow to take the kick. During this time C. A. Independiente's players had a chance to rest. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tommie Bolton got free with Dénes Dibusz in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 76 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for C. A. Independiente! Farid Mondragón had in the 78thth minute some difficulties stopping József Kiss's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Farid Mondragón made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from János Dénes in the 81st minute of play. Dénes Dibusz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommie Bolton in the 84th minute of play. Ottó Vadász kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After 89 minutes of play, Szentlőrinc SE's József Kiss made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Farid Mondragón was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tommie Bolton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dénes Dibusz came out and tried to block the shot, but Tommie Bolton slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 99th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. C. A. Independiente walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
