The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute of the match, Jerzy Zjawin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Themba Takane saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 11 minutes into the match, Floresta Negra FC's goal looked a bit too open when Demetrio Giacchetti came free, but Egun Pais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andy Cole in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Themba Takane saved Cimarrones F.C. from getting behind. The supporters of Floresta Negra FC booed when Cimarrones F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xaime Urrechua didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd match minute, Cimarrones F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ubarna Donallo to maneuver through the defense. Themba Takane was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Andy Cole capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Andy Cole really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 29th minute Brecht Dheedene shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egun Pais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 48th minute, Demetrio Giacchetti left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cimarrones F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Cole to make the kick off. Cimarrones F.C.'s Themba Takane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy Cole in the 53rd minute of play.
