Ellis Schenck was a little too slow when Håkan Kjellman got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 2-0. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubaldo Padro, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Håkan Kjellman made the kick off in the second half. A well done corner resulted in Verner Holmstedt drilling the ball in to score 2-1 behind FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper.
