Ctibor Závada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergio Geldhof struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Leon Pilkington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Brugge. The supporters of Abasto FC booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stein Van Clynenbreugel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club Brugge's Nicolaas Roeckeloes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Club Brugge from getting a goal against them. 42 minutes into the match, Gabriel-Omar Batista dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nicolaas Roeckeloes, 2-0. In the 45th minute, Gertjan Daems hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ctibor Závada made a kick off. After 54 played minutes Abasto FC got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Camerino. In the 64th minute Ctibor Závada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leon Pilkington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, Abasto FC could leave the field as winners, despite Club Brugge having more of the ball for most of the match.
