The audience was convinced that Richard Nixon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronny Engström was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. In the 29th match minute, ATLETAS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erubiel Madaleno to maneuver through the defense. Barbaros Bozbey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Phelipe in the 33rd minute of play. When Richard Nixon came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the The Cavern Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Nixon couldn't finish the play. 46 minutes into the game, Saul Phelipe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ATLETAS FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Cavern Club the free kick. Saul Phelipe hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Saul Phelipe made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, ATLETAS FC's Marc de Pelsmakere got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 59th minute Geovani Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronny Engström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th minute, Marc de Pelsmakere hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geovani Mendonça in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronny Engström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Geovani Mendonça spun around in front of the goal 63 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of ATLETAS FC's goal. ATLETAS FC made a substitution. Eutropio Turienzo replaced Saul Phelipe. In the 69th minute, Ramon Piarres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute, Eutropio Turienzo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ATLETAS FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Barbaros Bozbey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eutropio Turienzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The ATLETAS FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while The Cavern Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
