The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Waldemar Solarek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhou in the 3rd minute of play. Waldemar Solarek was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Faustão Abraão showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. In the 14th minute Themos Proedropoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Panait Frânculescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Waldemar Solarek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faustão Abraão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waldemar Solarek made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Zhou sent off a good shot on target. Themos Proedropoulos struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Panait Frânculescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympiacos FC. After 24 minutes, Giorgos Soufleris mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olympiacos FC and the Alexandria Team08 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Waldemar Solarek was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Basarab Panciu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 26 minute of play. Waldemar Solarek made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Zhou sent off a good shot on target. When Zhou came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Alexandria Team08 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zhou couldn't finish the play. Olympiacos FC's Themos Proedropoulos got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, Alexandria Team08's goal looked a bit too open when Themos Proedropoulos came free, but Panait Frânculescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Themos Proedropoulos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panos Ntountas in the 51st minute of play forced Alexandria Team08's goalkeeper Panait Frânculescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 52 minutes into the match, Alexandria Team08's Ilie Greculescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Waldemar Solarek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Alexandria Team08's Panait Frânculescu got control of the ball when Themos Proedropoulos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alexandria Team08's Péter Bánhegyi was substituted for Maxim Constantinescu. In the 58th match minute, Olympiacos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Konstantinos Meletiou to maneuver through the defense. But to his dismay, Marin Dică quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Panait Frânculescu made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Themos Proedropoulos sent off a good shot on target. Olympiacos FC's Giannis Grigorakos got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alexandria Team08's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
