In the 12th minute Club Atlético Lanús were awarded a corner. Garfield Watson went to the cornerflag to take it. Fernando Navarro Montoya showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabiano Tomaszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 22 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Lanús's goalkeeper Fernando Navarro Montoya had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aad Aab. After 25 played minutes Club Atlético Lanús got a freekick which was hit by Sidney Cavazos. Artur Boruc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Cavazos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lothaire Maddox to make the kick off. Fernando Navarro Montoya came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Devils's Tobiasz Orszak. But to his dismay, Tobiasz Orszak quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Ludomir Scislowicz kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Fernando Navarro Montoya made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Henrico in the 59th minute of play. Fernando Navarro Montoya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaac Henrico in the 61st minute of the match. Bartlomiej Nienajadlo hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lothaire Maddox got free with Artur Boruc in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
