The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Carballido got free with Jarbas Guedes in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. S S Palestra Italia were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Junta De Los Rios CF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rony Tasso took the corner. 16 minutes into the match, Junta De Los Rios CF's goal looked a bit too open when Rony Tasso came free, but Amuruza Lillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Junta De Los Rios CF's Florentino Yeste was substituted for Celestino Marques. Zé Roberto Moura could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Amuruza Lillo made a huge save.
