The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Matei Trişcu made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Sorin Hurdubețiu sent off a good shot on target. Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Panait Vâtcu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cezar Cernescu in the 15th minute of play. A collision led to Tractorul Satulung -MM- getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Romeo Ieremia hit a great ball. Sorin Hurdubețiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matei Trişcu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sorin Hurdubețiu ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Cunea in the 27th minute of play forced Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goalkeeper Panait Vâtcu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Matei Trişcu threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mădălin Cangeopol, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 29th minute of the match Tractorul Satulung -MM- got a corner. Steaua Bucuresti's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ovidiu Șişman ran over to the corner to take the kick. Heintje Gamarra was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Heintje Gamarra got free with Matei Trişcu in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ionuț Drumeș hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the game, Heintje Gamarra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Steaua Bucuresti the free kick. The supporters of Steaua Bucuresti booed when Tractorul Satulung -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heintje Gamarra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matei Trişcu made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Mădălin Cangeopol sent off a good shot on target. Panait Vâtcu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurel Pandrea, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Gheorghe Cunea made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Steaua Bucuresti's Nae Matei got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the match, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Mădălin Cangeopol sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matei Trişcu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 58 minutes into the match, Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Cunea came free, but Panait Vâtcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Claudiu Fecioru had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matei Trişcu. Steaua Bucuresti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudiu Fecioru was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Steaua Bucuresti's Aurel Pandrea pulled a muscle in his back after 64 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 64 minutes, Romeo Ieremia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tractorul Satulung -MM- and the Steaua Bucuresti players grew even worse after the yellow card. Romeo Ieremia kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Panait Vâtcu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cezar Cernescu went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Matei Trişcu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mădălin Cangeopol's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Steaua Bucuresti's Matei Trişcu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudiu Fecioru in the 82nd minute of play. Matei Trişcu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudiu Fecioru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emil Cernea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Panait Vâtcu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matei Trişcu came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Tractorul Satulung -MM-'s Claudiu Fecioru. But to his dismay, Claudiu Fecioru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. 96 minutes into the game, Mădălin Cangeopol cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Matei Trişcu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tractorul Satulung -MM- fans cheered their team off the field, for while Steaua Bucuresti had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
