With a little luck, Calopsita EC's Marcus Taffarel got control of the ball when Erwin Backes tried to sneak it across the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Luiz Fábio Arósio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Siim Kikas. De Gulden Draak's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Fábio Arósio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Semih Şentürk struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Evert Heremans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcus Taffarel was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Marcus Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudius Marsching in the 44th minute of play. With his leg Marcus Taffarel managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when De Gulden Draak's Manuel Peres fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Calopsita EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Evert Heremans scored to the left of an out of position Marcus Taffarel, making the score, 1-2. The De Gulden Draak players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Calopsita EC were winning 1-2.

De Gulden Draak's Siim Kikas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save De Gulden Draak from getting a goal against them. The corner led Calopsita EC's Semih Şentürk to fire away a dangerous shot which Siim Kikas despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Evert Heremans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcus Taffarel having to make a save. Marcus Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Peres's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Luiz Fábio Arósio's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Siim Kikas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Siim Kikas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Arósio in the 67th minute of the match. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcus Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erwin Backes in the 84th minute of play forced Calopsita EC's goalkeeper Marcus Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcus Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Peres in the 86th minute of the match. In the 87thth minute of the game Manuel Peres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Calopsita EC's Marcus Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 91 played minutes Calopsita EC got a freekick which was hit by Luisão Marinho. 93 minutes into the game, Justin Ostrowicki was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. De Gulden Draak's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Calopsita EC the free kick. A collision led to De Gulden Draak getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Justin Ostrowicki hit a great ball. After 96 played minutes De Gulden Draak got a freekick which was hit by Dieter Strelow. When Luisão Marinho fell near the penalty area in the 98th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Calopsita EC's protests and gave Luisão Marinho a yellow card for diving instead. In the 98th match minute, Calopsita EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisão Marinho to maneuver through the defense. The De Gulden Draak manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Calopsita EC to win.
