In the 47th match minute, New York Red Bulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remus Bercea to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bircan Serdar to strike the kick off in the second half. Eduardo Pereyra made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Jurgen Turpin sent off a good shot on target. In the 54th minute of the match Camillo Mercuri shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eduardo Pereyra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jurgen Turpin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eduardo Pereyra came out and tried to block the shot, but Jurgen Turpin slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 58th minute. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bircan Serdar in the 61st minute of play. George Schiau charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed George Schiau the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd minute, George Schiau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Camillo Mercuri ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Flamenco United's corner Camillo Mercuri fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eduardo Pereyra quite easily take care of the ball. The audience was convinced that Bircan Serdar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eduardo Pereyra was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Marian Balint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ye Zheng having to interfere. Eduardo Pereyra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yanick Schautens in the 87th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in New York Red Bulls's zone, Yanick Schautens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Pereyra came out of the goal and Yanick Schautens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save New York Red Bulls from getting a goal against them. Eduardo Pereyra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robbin Laurent in the 94th minute.
