After a rather tough play, GRÊMIO's Walmir Donatello got a free kick in the 16th minute. 17 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Jeferson Furtado came free, but Sergio Goicoechea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, GRÊMIO's Luiz Gustavo Mazza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcus Sampaio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 28th minute Jeferson Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Goicoechea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeferson Furtado in the 30th minute of play. After 30 played minutes GRÊMIO got a freekick which was hit by Abel Pirani. Sergio Goicoechea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulisses Barbosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Abel Pirani left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. In the 39th minute, Dalmo Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvério Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Marcus Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jeferson Furtado came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Felizberto EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeferson Furtado couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jeferson Furtado to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Geraldo Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Goicoechea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, GRÊMIO's Marcus Sampaio threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Silvério Pinheiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeferson Furtado in the 67th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Sergio Goicoechea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabinho Valadares hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. 73 minutes into the match, Felizberto EC's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Pirani came free, but Marcus Sampaio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeferson Furtado might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sergio Goicoechea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeferson Furtado ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in GRÊMIO's zone, Jeferson Furtado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergio Goicoechea came out of the goal and Jeferson Furtado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abel Pirani got free with Marcus Sampaio in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcus Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. With his leg Marcus Sampaio managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when GRÊMIO's Luiz Gustavo Mazza fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Fabinho Valadares hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when 史挺南 got free with Marcus Sampaio in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched GRÊMIO eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
