After 4 minutes Barrenta SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hitzeder Serans who took care of the corner kick. Atletico Maturrango's Hitzeder Serans was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Patric Isaksson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience was convinced that Florencio Herbella's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patric Isaksson was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barrenta SC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hitzeder Serans was slow to take the kick. During this time Atletico Maturrango's players had a chance to rest. 16 minutes into the match, Atletico Maturrango's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Tastzian came free, but Weather Piedrahita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Di Marinho got free with Weather Piedrahita in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Cristobal Tabby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atletico Maturrango's Weather Piedrahita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nariman Mansourian in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Atletico Maturrango's goalkeeper Weather Piedrahita had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nariman Mansourian. Weather Piedrahita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fellipe Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Florencio Herbella's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patric Isaksson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. After the first half Atletico Maturrango were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Di Marinho charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Di Marinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd minute, Di Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcial Zuazna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patric Isaksson having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Leonides Ybarbo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patric Isaksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Ybarbo came free, but Patric Isaksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Weather Piedrahita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fellipe Lago in the 76th minute of the match. Leonides Ybarbo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Patric Isaksson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barrenta SC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Orlin Hinojosa was slow to take the kick. During this time Atletico Maturrango's players had a chance to rest. Weather Piedrahita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fellipe Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barrenta SC's Urban Stenman was substituted for Fellipe Lago. Nariman Mansourian took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Weather Piedrahita. Weather Piedrahita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 88 minutes into the game, Atletico Maturrango's Leonides Ybarbo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patric Isaksson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonides Ybarbo in the 91st minute of play forced Barrenta SC's goalkeeper Patric Isaksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Barrenta SC defense, Leonides Ybarbo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patric Isaksson. The Barrenta SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patric Isaksson should have stopped the shot. Atletico Maturrango were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Barrenta SC's much stronger midfield.
