Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sherlock Brennan in the 15th minute of play. Brigid Rutherford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Martins in the 19th minute of play. After 21 minutes St. James Gate F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pedro Luís da Rocha who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Pedro Luís da Rocha almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but St. James Gate F.C.'s Brigid Rutherford did a great save. Brigid Rutherford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredo Martins's late challenge caught a St. James Gate F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredo Martins helped the player get up and apologised. After 37 played minutes Marquês de Herval got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Martins. Dida Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Hewney Kirby sent off a good shot on target. After 39 played minutes St. James Gate F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Egan McLaughlin. After some careless play in the St. James Gate F.C. defense, Alfredo Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brigid Rutherford. The St. James Gate F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brigid Rutherford should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hewney Kirby was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with Brigid Rutherford in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Egan McLaughlin charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Egan McLaughlin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Lorenzo Mendebal came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Marquês de Herval fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lorenzo Mendebal couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Martins in the 82nd minute of play forced St. James Gate F.C.'s goalkeeper Brigid Rutherford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th match minute, Marquês de Herval was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Acácio Cunha to maneuver through the defense. Sherlock Brennan hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. The Marquês de Herval fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Marquês de Herval's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
