Elija Vergara kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Santiago Fuentes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Said Hamed, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Epifanio Leceta got free with Tobías Quilempan in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute Edgardo Garzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Fuentes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Eneas Bernia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. Tobías Quilempan came out of the goal and Epifanio Leceta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 75 minutes into the match, Club Deportes La Serena's goal looked a bit too open when Epifanio Leceta came free, but Tobías Quilempan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes into the game, Salvatore Bunster was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
