In the 5th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tristan Mansfield to maneuver through the defense. Walmyr Salles's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Roman Rollins firmly grabbed it by the left post. Roman Rollins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dario Alegría in the 7th minute of the match. In the 8th minute AVAÍ F.C. were awarded a corner. Valdir Martins went to the cornerflag to take it. 12 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Thanos Sapalidis came free, but Jailson Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute, one of AVAÍ F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for AVAÍ F.C.. In the 18th minute of the match, Almir Matos tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Roman Rollins saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 19 played minutes Boca Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Tristan Mansfield. Walmyr Salles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Roman Rollins made a huge save. Almir Matos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Roman Rollins came out and tried to block the shot, but Almir Matos slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 28th minute. A collision led to AVAÍ F.C. getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Edu Antunes hit a great ball. In the 37th play minute Walmyr Salles came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Roman Rollins. 2-0. In the 42nd minute Thanos Sapalidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edu Antunes in the 46th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Roman Rollins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Edu Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. AVAÍ F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Edu Antunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roman Rollins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Walmyr Salles made a kick off. Roman Rollins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmyr Salles in the 57th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Walmyr Salles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roman Rollins. Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Walmyr Salles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. 60 minutes into the game, Rich Jean was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Boca Juniors's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AVAÍ F.C. the free kick. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Rich Jean got a free kick in the 60th minute. Roman Rollins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu Antunes in the 61st minute of the match. The corner ended in Valdir Martins almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Boca Juniors's Roman Rollins did a great save. Roman Rollins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 67 minutes into the game, AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roman Rollins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After 74 played minutes Boca Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Tristan Mansfield. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Tarcisio Chaves replaced Valdir Martins. After 75 played minutes Boca Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Tristan Mansfield. After having played for 80 minutes, Walmyr Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AVAÍ F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmyr Salles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the match, Walmyr Salles notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Boca Juniors's Roman Rollins. Roman Rollins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Neil Kemp replaced Ernie Dixon. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edu Antunes couldn't finish the play. Walmyr Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Rollins having to interfere. AVAÍ F.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
