An unexpectedly hard shot by Roni Coryn in the 7th minute of play forced Sport Club Abrilense's goalkeeper Loris Karius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bacardi FC's Leo Dauwen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manole Ciocârlan in the 13th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cléber Catarinense got free with Leo Dauwen in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cléber Catarinense's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leo Dauwen firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Bob Leerbels got free in front of the goal in the 41st minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Loris Karius was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cléber Catarinense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Loris Karius successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Loris Karius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roni Coryn, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Sport Club Abrilense's Tobias Felo was substituted for Israel Edorta. Bacardi FC were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Sport Club Abrilense's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Boruc Wykowski took the corner. The corner led Bacardi FC's Boruc Wykowski to fire away a dangerous shot which Loris Karius despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
