Song Xing Le could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Nery Pumpido made a huge save. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save GuateFortín from getting a goal against them. After 7 minutes, Sven-Edvin Jansson made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sven-Edvin Jansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Souchu having to interfere. GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson managed to work through R.C. Marseille's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Sven-Edvin Jansson dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Jean-Marc Buisson made in the 24th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Song Xing Le. Nery Pumpido made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cyrille Melon in the 27th minute. Mihail Toader fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nery Pumpido having to interfere. Nery Pumpido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cyrille Melon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 35 minutes, Mihail Toader managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. R.C. Marseille's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihail Toader was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sven-Edvin Jansson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 41 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustave Souchu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 45 minutes, Sven-Edvin Jansson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GuateFortín's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven-Edvin Jansson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 47 minutes, Claudio Cerritos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GuateFortín and the R.C. Marseille players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Claudio Cerritos got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

51 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Edvin Jansson came free, but Gustave Souchu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustave Souchu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Sven-Edvin Jansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Claudio Cerritos hit a great ball. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu got control of the ball when Sven-Edvin Jansson tried to sneak it across the goal line. GuateFortín made a substitution. Mario Gomez replaced Roberto Trotta. GuateFortín made a substitution. William Villanueva replaced Zico Zellier. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustave Souchu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 82nd minute GuateFortín were awarded a corner. Angel Alvarenga went to the cornerflag to take it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cyrille Melon in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nery Pumpido prevented the ball from getting in the gole. GuateFortín's attentive Claudio Cerritos managed to snatch the ball when Cyprien Auguste made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. In the 87th minute, Sven-Edvin Jansson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gustave Souchu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. The GuateFortín supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing GuateFortín would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
