The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Matei Răducu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pastor Eufemio in the 12th minute. When Carpathians's Stefan Dobay in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience was convinced that Stefan Dobay's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dušan Ančic was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Stefan Dobay struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Dušan Ančic didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carpathians. In the 27thth minute of the game Stefan Dobay who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goal looked a bit too open when Stefan Dobay came free, but Dušan Ančic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Stefan Dobay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dušan Ančic came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Carpathians's Stefan Dobay. But to his dismay, Stefan Dobay quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dušan Ančic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stefan Dobay in the 41st minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Percival was the one to do the kick off. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético de Newell from getting a goal against them. The corner led Carpathians's Roque Arixo to fire away a dangerous shot which Dušan Ančic despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Carpathians were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Club Atlético de Newell's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alin Nichitelea took the corner. After taking down the ball on Carpathians's corner Alin Nichitelea fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Dušan Ančic quite easily take care of the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Carpathians's goal looked a bit too open when Spike Foley came free, but Matei Răducu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matei Răducu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Spike Foley in the 56th minute of the match. When Stefan Dobay came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Carpathians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stefan Dobay couldn't finish the play. After 62 minutes, Ercan Sabahaddin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carpathians and the Club Atlético de Newell players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ercan Sabahaddin hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Carpathians's Stefan Dobay slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dušan Ančic. That made the score 0-2 after 64 minutes of play. Stefan Dobay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dušan Ančic having to make a save. 69 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goal looked a bit too open when Stefan Dobay came free, but Dušan Ančic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Carpathians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roque Arixo to maneuver through the defense. Club Atlético de Newell's Amanda Hoffs was substituted for William Dunning. In the 77th minute, Roque Arixo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the match, Carpathians's goal looked a bit too open when Spike Foley came free, but Matei Răducu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atlético de Newell's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Stefan Dobay scored to the left of an out of position Dušan Ančic, making the score, 0-3. Martin Zafiu kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Dušan Ančic was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Stefan Dobay capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Stefan Dobay really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Stefan Dobay received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dušan Ančic came out and tried to block the shot, but Stefan Dobay slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Devon Howson in the 94th minute of play forced Carpathians's goalkeeper Matei Răducu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carpathians's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
