The audience thought a goal was coming when Faruk Sağlık got free with Marcelinho Abraão in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelinho Abraão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferdinando Cirigliano in the 56th minute of play. Genílson Maciel's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ali Numan Ünalp firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, Karaboudjan's Fernandinho Albuquerque got a free kick in the 59th minute.
