In the 45th match minute, Herrier was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateo Fagildo to maneuver through the defense. Sven-Olof Lilja was slow to take the kick. During this time SSV Ulm 1846's players had a chance to rest. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Wolfgang Goethe advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 50th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Prudencio Lehior was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 59 minutes, Alberigo Sessa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberigo Sessa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Justo Izotz made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Don Merlot sent off a good shot on target. Justo Izotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberigo Sessa in the 70th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Alberigo Sessa took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Justo Izotz to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Don Merlot managed to get in a good position for a shot. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters rose to their feet, but Don Merlot was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Justo Izotz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Justo Izotz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Merlot, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Justo Izotz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Don Merlot in the 82nd minute. In the 85th minute Alberigo Sessa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justo Izotz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Don Merlot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Justo Izotz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
