Csaba Cziránku showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Fernando Pratto, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Irmantas Inčiūra took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Silverio Sanson. Silverio Sanson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Romulo Lalla sped through Club Atletico River Plate's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Csaba Cziránku. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romulo Lalla in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Csaba Cziránku saved Club Atletico River Plate from getting behind. Romulo Lalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Irmantas Inčiūra made a kick off. After 65 minutes, Juan Fernando Pratto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Fe and the Club Atletico River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. Csaba Cziránku came out of the goal and Romulo Lalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes into the match, Club Atletico River Plate's goalkeeper Csaba Cziránku had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juan Fernando Pratto. Thanks to some nice moves Roque Roso could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Csaba Cziránku however easily saved by the left post. A hard shot 87 in the game by Roque Roso from a close distance when the talented Csaba Cziránku managed to make a qualified save. Club Atletico River Plate's players were relieved. Roque Roso came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Csaba Cziránku could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romulo Lalla in the 90th minute of play forced Club Atletico River Plate's goalkeeper Csaba Cziránku to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sandro Coisne made in the 92nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Club Atletico River Plate's Sabino Dantas. Club Atletico River Plate's Csaba Cziránku proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Club Atletico River Plate from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Santa Fe left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Club Atletico River Plate.
