Bin Shevchenko dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Matías Loureiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raphael Furlan, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 31st minute, Ismael Braga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nildo Dantas got free with Matías Loureiro in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th match minute, Maxguaruja was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorginho Dias to maneuver through the defense. Gilberto Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bin Shevchenko having to interfere. In the 42nd minute Gilberto Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bin Shevchenko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Blumenau Esporte Clube booed when Maxguaruja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorginho Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilberto Severo made a kick off. When Severino Leme fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blumenau Esporte Clube's protests and gave Severino Leme a yellow card for diving instead. Blumenau Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Nildo Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Blumenau Esporte Clube reached it. Bin Shevchenko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Severo in the 96th minute of the match. The Maxguaruja supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Maxguaruja would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
