The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 16th minute, Feliciano Sesuldo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joel Diaz. The goal made the score 1-0. Benigno Froila's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferruccio Borrelli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. After 24 played minutes Tiburones Rojos got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Araoz. With a little luck, U21 Mexico's Joel Diaz got control of the ball when Feliciano Sesuldo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joel Diaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Natalio Quico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Robert Haaland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Diaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 48 minutes, Christian Suero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tiburones Rojos and the U21 Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tiburones Rojos's Christian Suero got a free kick in the 48th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Benigno Froila made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Segundo Balendin. After some careless play in the U21 Mexico defense, Robert Haaland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel Diaz. The U21 Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel Diaz should have stopped the shot. Joel Diaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Haaland, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 59 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Benicio Adrio. Joel Diaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frutos Macedo in the 59th minute of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Tiburones Rojos fully deserved thier win.
