Irreal Madrid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernardinho Abreu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isaltino Pirani to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Irreal Madrid defense, Joris Scheer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Noel Braga. The supporters of Irreal Madrid booed when S.C.CHUÍ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis León didn't get a good kick on the ball. Irreal Madrid's Ricardinho Netto was substituted for Vernon Kinney. Luis León hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Armando Cerezo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodolfo Trigo in the 73rd minute of the match.
