The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lester Hamel-Smith who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Paulo Leão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 7th minute Faustão Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Brown saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Charles Brown took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zico Maravilha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dominic Ramjohn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Shurwayne Bradley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trinidad & Tobago's Lester Hamel-Smith got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Trinidad & Tobago's Winifred Alleyne got a free kick in the 29th minute. Charles Brown didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sergio-Roberto Dinamite went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Paulo Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominic Ramjohn in the 33rd minute of the match. Trinidad & Tobago's Charles Brown played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro Luz in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Misericordia EC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Valdomiro Luz hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

After recieving a nice pass, Trinidad & Tobago's Scott Garcia tried to score from far away in the 61st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Charles Brown showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zico Maravilha in the 65th minute of the match. The supporters of Misericordia EC booed when Trinidad & Tobago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lester Hamel-Smith didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lester Hamel-Smith in the 74th minute of play. Paulo Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominic Ramjohn, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Sergio-Roberto Dinamite managed to get in a good position for a shot. Misericordia EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sergio-Roberto Dinamite was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Brown breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Trinidad & Tobago's zone, Valdomiro Luz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Brown came out of the goal and Valdomiro Luz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 96 minutes into the match, Trinidad & Tobago's goalkeeper Charles Brown had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valdomiro Luz. The Misericordia EC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Misericordia EC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
