In the 3rd minute Robert Tudor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Peter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dan Braru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the match, U21 Romania's Robert Tudor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Peter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goalkeeper Flavio Peter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. U21 Romania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Petre Petrean in the 14th minute. The corner led U21 Romania's Petre Petrean to fire away a dangerous shot which Flavio Peter despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 17 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Ursus Martin. In the 19th minute, Ursus Martin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Korneliusz Barna's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marioara Matei firmly grabbed it by the left post. Marioara Matei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Korneliusz Barna in the 21st minute of the match. Dan Braru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Flavio Peter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flavio Peter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Tudor, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Flavio Peter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Tudor in the 28th minute of play. Flavio Peter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Braru in the 29th minute of the match. Flavio Peter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Tudor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Batalionul U23 Dorobanti defense, Robert Tudor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flavio Peter. The Batalionul U23 Dorobanti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavio Peter should have stopped the shot. Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's Flavio Peter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Tudor in the 40th minute of play. After 43 minutes, Tauro Doro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Batalionul U23 Dorobanti and the U21 Romania players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Batalionul U23 Dorobanti getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Tauro Doro hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Tudor in the 45th minute of play forced Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goalkeeper Flavio Peter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half U21 Romania were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Korneliusz Barna was the one to do the kick off. Robert Tudor scored 0-2 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flavio Peter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Korneliusz Barna might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marioara Matei. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Korneliusz Barna ran back to his position shaking his head. U21 Romania's Marioara Matei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Korneliusz Barna in the 58th minute of play. Marioara Matei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xerxes Doro in the 62nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robert Tudor in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Peter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Batalionul U23 Dorobanti defense, Robert Tudor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flavio Peter. The Batalionul U23 Dorobanti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavio Peter should have stopped the shot. When Costel Damian fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Romania's protests and gave Costel Damian a yellow card for diving instead. In the 71st match minute, U21 Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costel Damian to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Korneliusz Barna in the 75th minute of play forced U21 Romania's goalkeeper Marioara Matei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Batalionul U23 Dorobanti getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Mugur Bejan hit a great ball. Robert Tudor in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Flavio Peter, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Flavio Peter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Tudor in the 82nd minute of play. U21 Romania's Dan Braru got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, Robert Tudor notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's Flavio Peter. Flavio Peter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Robert Tudor came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the U21 Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Tudor couldn't finish the play. Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's Flavio Peter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Braru in the 90th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Romania eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
