After a rather tough play, Newell´s's Bohuslav Sedlařík got a free kick in the 15th minute. Arkadiusz Piatek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Inautzi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. It was a well-played corner which Arkadiusz Piatek managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Denis Inautzi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arkadiusz Piatek's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Newell´s's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fermin Martinez was slow to take the kick. During this time Utopía Muerta FC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Alp Kaya got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Denis Inautzi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 26th minute, Jose Montez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Newell´s's Denis Inautzi got control of the ball when Arkadiusz Piatek tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arkadiusz Piatek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denis Inautzi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. The supporters of Utopía Muerta FC booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bohuslav Sedlařík didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Arkadiusz Piatek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mano Hume showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrej Golota, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

52 minutes into the match, Utopía Muerta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Enzo Haritz came free, but Mano Hume reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enzo Haritz in the 52nd minute of play forced Utopía Muerta FC's goalkeeper Mano Hume to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 54 minutes into the match, Utopía Muerta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Garci came free, but Mano Hume reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Newell´s's Denis Inautzi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arkadiusz Piatek in the 55th minute of play. 63 minutes into the game, Newell´s's Enzo Haritz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mano Hume made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Braulio Hibai in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Denis Inautzi saved Newell´s from getting behind. Utopía Muerta FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Armando Amarita in the 93rd minute. Utopía Muerta FC's Armando Amarita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Denis Inautzi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Utopía Muerta FC's goalkeeper Mano Hume, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 97th minute Newell´s were awarded a corner. Marcos Giraldo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Sungurbey Eraslan almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Utopía Muerta FC's Mano Hume did a great save. Both players had fought hard during the second half to keep the score at 1-1. The tie meant more entertainment for the crowd as the match moved into extra-time.

When Newell´s's Roman Garci in the 105th minute got a chance for a shot 105th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Mano Hume stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fermin Etxeberri's shot from short distance in the 117th minute. Both sets of players were looking tired when the whistle went to end the half. Everyone was pleased to get a few minutes to rest before extra-time resumed.

When it was time for second half in the overtime, the players were a bit slow, but they soon became more alert when it was time for Roman Garci to make the kick off. Newell´s's attentive Baldomiro Pierres managed to snatch the ball when Uriel Santiago made a throw-in in the 121st minute of the game. In the 122nd minute of the game Uriel Santiago made a throw-in which Braulio Hibai played forward. Denis Inautzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severo Bermudo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

In the 144th minute there was a penalty for Utopía Muerta FC. Braulio Hibai stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Denis Inautzi. 3-2. A hard and well directed shot from Sungurbey Eraslan led 148 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Utopía Muerta FC's Mano Hume became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 3-3. Newell´s's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Utopía Muerta FC had won, even though Newell´s had held more of the ball.
