The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albino Leobardo in the 3rd minute of the match. Los Rompepiernas's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Niceto Duardo during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes Los Rompepiernas got a freekick which was hit by Niceto Duardo. After some careless play in the Los Rompepiernas defense, Saturnino Curcio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martin Liher. The Los Rompepiernas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Liher should have stopped the shot. 14 minutes into the game, Alfredo Jacindo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Los Rompepiernas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting de Gijón the free kick. Alfredo Jacindo hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Saturnino Curcio notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Los Rompepiernas's Martin Liher. Martin Liher was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. But to his dismay, Saturnino Curcio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Martin Liher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Albino Leobardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Fernendo was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 57th minute, Matias Bilintx reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Martin Liher. The goal made the score 0-5. Los Rompepiernas's Martin Liher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Los Rompepiernas from getting a goal against them. With his leg Martin Liher managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Alejandro Rufo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alejandro Rufo had several of the Los Rompepiernas's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 64 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-6 score and a disappointed Martin Liher as he didn't even see the shot coming. 68 minutes into the match, Matias Bilintx dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Martin Liher, 0-7. Saturnino Curcio scored 0-8 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Martin Liher, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mario Zanabrias short, quick shot in the 94thth minute got Martin Liher to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Arthur Neiva struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Dante Fernendo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Rompepiernas.
