The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zadornin Puig in the 4th minute of play forced Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santiago Cañizares came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by VILLARREAL UNITED's Nofre Madariaga. But to his dismay, Nofre Madariaga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Baraxil Sarrate was out of position in the 10 minute of play, and Ivan Rubio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ivan Rubio really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 12th minute, Valentin Voicu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute David Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baraxil Sarrate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baraxil Sarrate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Villa in the 14th minute of play. Santiago Cañizares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valentin Voicu in the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Valentin Voicu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Santiago Cañizares. Foguera's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentin Voicu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Valentin Voicu put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Santiago Cañizares. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Foguera's Santiago Cañizares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentin Voicu in the 38th minute of play. After 39 played minutes Foguera got a freekick which was hit by Frank Isward. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Villa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Foguera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Villa to maneuver through the defense. Baraxil Sarrate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Rubio in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valentin Voicu in the 63rd minute of play forced Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. VILLARREAL UNITED's Baraxil Sarrate played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Villa in the 66th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Foguera's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Voicu came free, but Santiago Cañizares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis-Miguel Rienda kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. VILLARREAL UNITED made a substitution. Gert Vesterberg replaced Hustaz Quijana. In the 76th minute of the match VILLARREAL UNITED got a corner. Foguera's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Delmar Campello ran over to the corner to take the kick. Foguera's Santiago Cañizares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Foguera from getting a goal against them. In the 83rd minute, Anton Sundin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. VILLARREAL UNITED's Nofre Madariaga got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Valentin Voicu might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Santiago Cañizares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valentin Voicu ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Foguera's Santiago Cañizares got control of the ball when Valentin Voicu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 88th minute, Rolando Saavedra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute of the match, Valentin Voicu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Santiago Cañizares saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 91st minute, Valentin Voicu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Santiago Cañizares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jufran Van Landschoot got free with Santiago Cañizares in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Foguera's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Delmar Campello was slow to take the kick. During this time VILLARREAL UNITED's players had a chance to rest. VILLARREAL UNITED played a much better game than Foguera and deserved their victory. The Foguera players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
