Ferruccio Scalabrino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sancho Vesel having to interfere. Sancho Vesel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alessio Giusti in the 19th minute of the match. Sancho Vesel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ferruccio Scalabrino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Ferruccio Scalabrino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sancho Vesel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. NewDip F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alberigo Sacchi in the 22nd minute. The corner led NewDip F.C.'s Dave Aversano to fire away a dangerous shot which Sancho Vesel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of U21 Italy booed when NewDip F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Chiluiza didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alessio Giusti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee ignored NewDip F.C.'s protests and gave Fulvio Pesce a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, NewDip F.C.'s Fulvio Pesce got a free kick in the 46th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristiano Ramundo to make the kick off.
