The crowd rose to their feet as Damian Majewski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Aurel Crivoi. That made the score 1-0 in the 38 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 94th match minute, Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serginho Ramos to maneuver through the defense. In the 96thth minute of the game Marek Czech who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Romania's Aurel Crivoi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Romania's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
