Mbaka Mbolu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 6th playminute. 17 minutes into the game, Damian Majewski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Manuel Campens was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wojciech Krzynowek made in the 19th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Belgium's Joel Wigghers. Mbaka Mbolu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 22nd minute Mbaka Mbolu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tolek Kiszkiel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mbaka Mbolu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Tolek Kiszkiel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Campens didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Damian Majewski went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Manuel Campens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Majewski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute, Grzegorz Soszka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mbaka Mbolu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tolek Kiszkiel having to make a save. 43 minutes into the game, Remco Van Achten threw the ball into play from the sideline. Poland's Grzegorz Soszka quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mbaka Mbolu to make the kick off. Rafik Oliwa hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 53rd play minute Damian Majewski came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Manuel Campens. 1-3. If Mbaka Mbolu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tolek Kiszkiel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mbaka Mbolu, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Poland's Ryszard Dytrych was substituted for Gilbert Cipinski. Poland's Marek Czech was substituted for Damian Majewski. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mbaka Mbolu in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tolek Kiszkiel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wojciech Krzynowek made in the 89th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Belgium's Joel Wigghers. In the 94th minute, Mbaka Mbolu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. When the match was over Poland could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Belgium throughout the match.
