Trabzonspor FC's Adnan Saykal quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Slawomir Cisek, made in the 8th minute of the game. Meriç Bergin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasko Zagorchev in the 13th minute of play. Franck Ribéry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Meriç Bergin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Slawomir Cisek in the 37th minute of play forced Trabzonspor FC's goalkeeper Meriç Bergin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Trabzonspor FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Eregli SK were winning 1-3.

Eregli SK's Christopher Reimann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Haşim Kanver in the 54th minute of play. Meriç Bergin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Antonio Bertrand in the 56th minute. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Vasko Zagorchev sped through Trabzonspor FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Meriç Bergin. Seçkin Öksüzoğlu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Meriç Bergin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasko Zagorchev got free with Meriç Bergin in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Franck Ribéry who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Meriç Bergin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Eregli SK's Meriç Bergin threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vasko Zagorchev, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 84th minute, Adnan Saykal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Meriç Bergin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Adnan Saykal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trabzonspor FC's Ahmet Haşim Kanver got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Eregli SK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
