Grêmio FBPA's Andréas Linquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Crawford Korff in the 15th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Manfredo Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacobo Estevez made in the 25th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Crawford Korff immediately put the ball in play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Virgiliu Doroftei to strike the kick off in the second half. When Jacobo Estevez was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 51 minutes had been played. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Fumasche was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Estevez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alex Ciscato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgiliu Doroftei, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio FBPA's zone, James Rodriguez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andréas Linquist came out of the goal and James Rodriguez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 67 minutes into the game, Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alex Ciscato made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. 70 minutes into the match, Virgiliu Doroftei had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alex Ciscato. Fumasche's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Virgiliu Doroftei was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. The throw-in from Marcelo Eufemio in the 73rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Jâninho Melo. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fumasche's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stayko Vakareliyski was slow to take the kick. During this time Grêmio FBPA's players had a chance to rest. 77 minutes into the match, Virgiliu Doroftei notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Fumasche's Alex Ciscato. Alex Ciscato was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Virgiliu Doroftei scored 6-0 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alex Ciscato, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alex Ciscato was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Stayko Vakareliyski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Alex Ciscato tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Grêmio FBPA fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fumasche had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
