An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 9th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silvo Kenig hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. The supporters of Germany booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvo Kenig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Tarcísio Peixoto quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Chris Mergenthaler, made in the 18th minute of the game. Fredy Montero received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Fredy Montero slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. Tommy Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fredy Montero's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. António Trubin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Frank Sachs took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised António Trubin. António Trubin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Fredy Montero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Clube de Gaya's supporters rose to their feet, but Fredy Montero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fredy Montero in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Kahn saved Germany from getting behind. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Lisboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fredy Montero in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Kahn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's António Trubin got control of the ball when Frank Sachs tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 62ndth minute of the game Manuel Porto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Tommy Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fredy Montero struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube de Gaya. Silvo Kenig hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Germany's Frank Sachs got a free kick in the 69th minute. The supporters of Germany booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvo Kenig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Paulino Maltez was substituted for Manuel Porto. The throw-in from Silvo Kenig in the 77th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Germany's Adrian Dreifuss. 78 minutes into the game, Silvo Kenig threw the ball into play from the sideline. Germany's Adrian Dreifuss quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Tommy Kahn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fredy Montero went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Fredy Montero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Fredy Montero put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tommy Kahn. When the referee ended the match the Sporting Clube de Gaya players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
