Despite this Stipe Pletikosa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Stipe Pletikosa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Eikelkamp went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Stipe Pletikosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stasio Lichniak in the 25th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 27 minutes into the match, Fortuna 86 Szczecin's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Stipe Pletikosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stipe Pletikosa. Stipe Pletikosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 32 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stipe Pletikosa. Fortuna 86 Szczecin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaaf Groeneveldt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Stipe Pletikosa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Wilmes went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Harun Mengüer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Stasio Lichniak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 44th minute of play forced Fortuna 86 Szczecin's goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Stipe Pletikosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 50th minute. 52 minutes into the match, Fortuna 86 Szczecin's goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harun Mengüer in the 57th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Harun Mengüer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. Fortuna 86 Szczecin's Roberto Nirvana was substituted for Harun Mengüer. Fortuna 86 Szczecin's Stipe Pletikosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 62nd minute of play. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Stipe Pletikosa threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lars Meesters, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 63rd minute, Netherlands's Lars Meesters dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-5. 70 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stipe Pletikosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gust Ennemans kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Fortuna 86 Szczecin made a substitution. Eugeniusz Rzeszutko replaced Mariusz Gruchacz. Stipe Pletikosa made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Stipe Pletikosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 81st minute of the match. 83 minutes into the game, Roberto Nirvana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-5. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Stipe Pletikosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stipe Pletikosa having to interfere.
