Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kai Havertz in the 3rd minute of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Rodolfo Calvet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 11 minutes into the game, Academia de Campeones's Miguel Ángel Gambier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Rodolfo Calvet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Eikelkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Miguel Ángel Gambier sent off a good shot on target. After 28 minutes Academia de Campeones's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 30th minute of play forced Academia de Campeones's goalkeeper Rodolfo Calvet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodolfo Calvet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 33rd minute of the match. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kai Havertz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Academia de Campeones's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kermit Froggaard, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Academia de Campeones getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Kermit Froggaard hit a great ball. After 38 played minutes Academia de Campeones got a freekick which was hit by Joaquin Cefero. Academia de Campeones's Rodolfo Calvet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 39th minute of play. After 43 minutes, Fabian Bernaldo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Academia de Campeones and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. 44 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rodolfo Calvet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 45 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kermit Froggaard scored 2-0 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnout Reekers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Joaquin Cefero charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquin Cefero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joaquin Cefero hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Rodolfo Calvet made a huge save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Rodolfo Calvet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Joaquin Cefero hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodolfo Calvet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 77 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Kermit Froggaard came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rodolfo Calvet made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. After 80 minutes Academia de Campeones's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Academia de Campeones's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Rodolfo Calvet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. 97 minutes had been played when some careless play by Academia de Campeones's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. David Eikelkamp was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Netherlands's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
